As soon as we arrived in Calabria, Italy, we photographed Lisa & Rinaldo for a quick engagement session a couple of days before their wedding. They chose the beautiful Diamante, Calabria which is located on the southern part of Italy (on the boot). We made it just in time for the sunset.  Considering that their wedding was in a couple of days, Lisa and Rinaldo were so relaxed.  We enjoyed spending the day with them and learned all about the Calabria region.  It was so beautiful, I asked them how they can ever leave Italy to live in Chicago.  I loved it so much!  There was this boardwalk area along the coast and it was so alive! There were so many places to eat, shop, live bands playing, and many people strolling along the boardwalk.  The Italian way of life is really laid back and all about family and friends.  Afterwards, we had a nice little dinner on the boardwalk, just chatting the night away.  Wedding photos coming next… but if you join us on Facebook, you might see some sooner than later… just sayin’!  =D

After traveling via planes, trains, segways (yes, segways!), and automobiles, we are back!  We had such a great time photographing Lisa & Rinaldo’s wedding in Italy!  Tons of blog posts ahead of me and lots of catching up to do.  We are back in full swing… stay tuned!  A special thank you to the clients and future clients who waited for us to get home to meet… See you all this week!  Here’s a sneak peek of Lisa & Rinaldo’s wedding…

Coronado Island is beautiful!  Lots of places to shop, a beautiful skyline of San Diego, and a nice place to just chill and walk around.  We photographed Lyn & Micheal’s engagement session there.  It was super windy that day, very much like the winds we have here in Chicago.  A special thank you to Ruby for setting up the session!  Can’t wait to go back to beautiful San Diego!

Woo hoo!  We are so honored to be recognized amongst international photographers to have achieved such a prestigious award.  This past March, we attended our annual photography convention,  WPPI in Las Vegas, and for the first time, we entered two prints for the 16×20 Print Competition.  It’s so great to be recognized for something that you love to do!  It’s kinda like getting on the honor roll or the dean’s list, if you will.

The second print we entered was “Windy City Bride”.  Unfortunately, we didn’t get the award for this particular print.  We missed the award by one point due to technical errors… Lesson learned : Plan ahead!  A special thank you goes out to Majka & Ziggy!

We had the opportunity to shoot along side Janmarc Images of Southern California for an engagement session with one of his clients a couple of weeks ago.  Adriana & Armen wanted a Vintage, 1940’s themed shoot so they went all in for it!  Janmarc had chosen the Union Station and China Town in Los Angeles for their shoot and they were perfect locations!  I have to admit that I am very envious of the quality of sunlight they have in California.  A bit different than what we get out here in Chicago.  How I wish we had this type of sun for my clients…

We would love to do a lot more shoots out in SoCal, so if you’re reading this and live in the SoCal area, we would love to travel and photograph you!

We just got back from our annual WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) annual convention in Vegas!  And wow, I am so excited to share with you the images that I captured while attending a photo shoot with fellow friend photographers!  So please stay tuned this week because I will be updating our blog A LOT!  We also had a couple of sessions in SoCal so those will be blogged on too!  But before I do, I wanted to share Robilyn’s “Rock the Dress” session!

The day after Robilyn & Darell’s wedding, we photographed their “day after shoot” also known as “trash the dress”… Or as we call it here at Misha Media “Rock the Dress” session.  When Robilyn told me that she was interested in having a “Rock the Dress” session, I was soooo excited!  When we do “Rock the Dress” sessions at Misha Media, the brides don’t always want to ‘trash’ their dress per se… it’s basically another photo session wearing your bridal gown at a much more relaxed fashion.  This is ideal for those couples who want more photos in their wedding gowns (which they’ll only wear once) so it’s really maximizing your dress… and of course, more photos!  In Robilyn’s, she wanted to take advantage of the beaches of Cancun and of course, I couldn’t resist!  Here are my faves:

“Felicitaciones a Robilyn y Darell!”  That means “Congratulations to Robilyn & Darell” in Spanish.  We had the honor and privilege of photographing their wedding on the beach in Cancun, Mexico at the beautiful Hilton Cancun Golf & Spa Resort. Their wedding invitation and save the date card totally set the tone for their beach themed wedding!  From A to Z, they had all of their bases covered and everything was perfect – even the weather… We did have the dramatic clouds and imminent rain, but luckily, the rain waited and allowed them to have their beach ceremony and outdoor reception.

Thank you once again for choosing Misha Media! Your friends and families are beautiful inside and out and we hope that you’ll forever remember all the love, laughter, and togetherness during this Valentine’s week in Cancun.  We will forever remember our time with you… This was our first beach wedding and it couldn’t have been any better!

Darell is showing respect to Robilyn’s dad by taking his hand and placing it on his forehead while bowing.  It is also called “mano”.  It is a Filipino tradition for a younger person to show their respect by “blessing” to their elderlies (ie. grandparents, parents, aunts & uncles).

Immediately after their ceremony, we had some time to photograph them with their bridal party… Of course at the beach, where else?! :)

Here are some shots from Robilyn & Darell’s wedding rehearsal.  One word summarizing their rehearsal = organized!  I usually do not get a bride and groom who are so actively part of the whole planning process.  It’s usually one or the other, but with these two, they had their own personal tasks and they shined in all tasks involved!  Robilyn with her very creative skills taking care of all the details of the wedding.  If you haven’t seen their wedding invitation yet, click here! She had made everything from scratch!  And Darell with his awesome organizational skills… you both rock!

Photography is all about light!  When we photographed Robilyn & Darell’s wedding rehearsal, I knew that the lighting that we had during the rehearsal wasn’t going to be the same lighting that we’d have for their actual wedding… It was a good 4 hour difference between the two… So when I saw this shot, I was a little sad that I wouldn’t be able to get it on their wedding day, but at least I got it for their rehearsal… This is Dad & Robilyn during the procession… They were walking down a small hill overlooking their ceremony site on the beach… Aside from the beautiful blue skies, it was super windy that day!  And we actually didn’t even get the clear blue skies on their wedding day, but overcast with clouds… (blog post coming later)…

After the rehearsal, they had a pool side luncheon for their friends and families.

They also had a surprise birthday cake for Darell’s mom :)
